2022 Puerto Rico Chapter Abstract Competition

We are pleased to announce the 2022 Abstract Competition for ACP Puerto Rico Chapter. This event will be faced to face and will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at La Concha Hotel.

This is an ACP Resident/Fellow Members' and Medical Students' competition. First author and presenter must be a Resident/Fellow or Medical Student member of the ACP Puerto Rico Chapter. Residents and Medical Students may apply for membership online.

Upon review by the Scientific Committee, if accepted, the committee will determine the categories of the abstract and if it will be an oral or poster presentation. The abstract may be a Clinical Vignette (reports of one or more cases that illustrate a rare disease entity or an unusual clinical presentation of an established disease), Basic or Clinical Research (clinical and/or laboratory research, delineating a new investigation into mechanisms of disease or consisting of a detailed review of a clinical problem), Quality Improvement, or High-Value, Cost-Conscious Care. Refer the Guide to Preparing for the Abstract Competition for more information. The Scientific Committee decision is final.

Abstracts can only be submitted electronically via the online abstract form. The word limit is 450 words and must conform the specifications in Guide to Preparing for the Abstract Competition. Click here for more information about who should be included as author. All abstracts must be in English and, if accepted for oral presentation, the presentation must be done by the first author face to face in English. If the first author cannot deliver the oral presentation, he/she must forfeit the abstract as oral or poster presentation. The abstracts accepted as poster will receive further instructions on size of the board for the face to face presentation. The submission of an abstract acknowledges the consent of all the authors on the abstract publication. The submitting author must ensure, that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract and that they consent to its submission and publication. All presenters, either as poster or oral, must be registered in the meeting and pay the conference's registration fee, according to their membership status.

Only original abstracts that have not been accepted for presentation, been presented at other meetings, including ACP Chapters/Regions, or published in a journal will be considered. You can submit up to two abstracts as first author. Abstracts previously accepted to a National, local Meeting or journals are NOT eligible and are subject to disqualification.

ONLY ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS will be accepted. When entering the abstract information, press the enter key only to separate paragraphs and not at the end of each line as you see it in the screen. Authors should be listed last name followed by a comma, then the first name or initial. One author should be separated by the next author with the use of “;” Upon submission you will receive an e-mail notification once your abstract has been successfully submitted. Your submission is final. Once submitted, you cannot change any part of the abstract. Abstracts will not be edited. Authors are responsible for any spelling, grammatical or typographical errors contained in the submitted abstracts.

Please use your most used e-mail address when submitting the abstract. All communication regarding the abstract competition will be sent electronically. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. Atlantic Time on Friday, August 26, 2022. We highly encourage early submission as soon the site opens.

Please note that your abstracts must include your institutional affiliation and it must be pre approved by your Training Program Director prior your electronic submission. In the case of medical students, it must be pre-approved by the Chief of Internal Medicine Department or Dean of the School of Medicine prior to the submission. You should specify that person as your Program Director in the submission form. Deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. Atlantic Time on Friday, August 26, 2022.
